A Reflection on Priorities: Love, Labor & Leadership

Many of us, particularly in the Asian and Asian-American communities, were raised with an unshakable sense of filial piety. We watched our parents work twice as hard, facing twice the challenges, all so that we could have "a chance" at something better.

Now, many of us have reached a point where we can finally give back to our parents, fulfilling that deep-rooted obligation. But is that really the highest calling?

I am incredibly blessed with the most selfless and loving parents. Even in their 70s, long retired, they continue to serve. Every year, I send them money—and every year, they remind me that they don’t need it.

My mother tells me that what she truly desires is not money, but for me to live in faith and to simply call her daily.

For years, I gave money because it was easier. I didn’t want to confront my own vices. I was caught in the same cycle so many are—running on the dystopian hamster wheel, believing that money solves problems.
But in a world of infinite money printing, does giving money really matter?
I postulate that it does not—not in the way we’ve been led to believe.

The real currency of impact is:
🔥 Labor
💙 Love
🛠 Service

We've seen it firsthand with USAID—blind philanthropy, careless wealth distribution, and soulless bureaucracies destroy communities instead of building them up. Corrupt aid programs make people feel like they've "done good" while their empires extract far more than they give.

💰 Money without labor is theft.
💔 Money without love is corruption.

I’ve wrestled with this truth:
➡️ How should I dedicate my most productive years?
➡️ To whom should I give my time, my energy, my gifts?

I believe the only way to truly give back is not through money, but by applying our unique skills and talents for the greater good—by breaking free from the programming that tells us money fixes poverty.
It doesn’t.

❤️ Loving, caring, and nurturing does.
America is not collapsing because it is broke.
It is collapsing because it lacks leaders who truly love, care for, and nurture the nation.

My thesis is this:

To make an impact, you don’t need money. You need a team of highly competent, skilled, and loving people.

God bless.
